Father Schmitt Receives Posthumous Honor

A milestone date in American history will see tribute paid to a hero who fell on that date.
The Rev. Aloysius Schmitt, a native of St. Lucas and the first U.S. chaplain killed in connection with WW II, will see belated recognition.

Following last year’s identification of his remains, the military will present a medal upgrade to the Rev. Schmitt’s family on the anniversary of his death.
