SW and TV School Boards Agree to Share a Superintendent for the 2014-2015 School Year

In a unanimous vote from both sides, the South Winneshiek and Turkey Valley school boards agreed to share a superintendent for the next school year at a special board meeting held at Turkey Valley last Thursday, April 3. With the current superintendent, Chris Hoover, ending his contract on June 30, the two boards needed to decide if they would seek their own superintendents or if they would continue to share one in order to benefit the schools’ students, faculty, staff and communities. SW Board President Arnie Kriener stated, “The relationship between South Winn and Turkey Valley didn’t just start. This has been going on for a decade. We need to continue to be open and honest with each other and see where this goes.”

During the meeting, the boards discussed the amount of time the new superintendent would spend at each school and what they thought was fair. Some were still leaning toward the 60/40 split the schools currently have, with South Winn having the 60%, because of the difference in revenue of the schools but everyone was willing to go 50/50.
