UPDATED: Flooding Hits Region

UPDATED:

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday night through Sunday as a cold front sweeps through the region, the National Weather Service is saying.

Currently, prediction is for up to 1 inch. A flasdh floodbwatch is in effect from 12 a.m. Sundasy to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The storms will be capable of heavy rainfall, bad news for residents struggling with the deluge.

Any additional rains across the already saturated, flooded grounds will lead to further flooding - or worsen what is already ongoing.

Clear weather should follow for a fewe dsys beginning Sunfay evening.

One casualty is a planned cross country meet originally set for Saturday that has been cancelled.

The massive pounding by Mother Nature has area waterways in flood stage.

As many as 9-11 inches of rain may have fallen for some residents, the weather service is saying.

On top of already saturated ground, flooding has begun.

More rain is expected, the weather service is saying.

South Winneshiek students were dismissed at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Multiple accidents were seen Wednesday in Fayette County as a toppled tree led to collisions while deputies and county conservation and residents worked to remove the tree from the roadway while drivers, blinded by the storm, kept colliding with the tree.
