Gary Joseph Kuboushek

Gary Joseph Kuboushek, 60, of Ridgeway, died Feb. 1, 2025, at his home outside of Ridgeway.

He was born Oct. 12, 1964, the son of Leonard and Elizabeth "Betty" (Moellers) Kuboushek. He married Kristi Kleitsch September 16, 1989, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank,. They raised five children together.

Gary worked in agriculture all his life, taking over the farm where he was raised in 1998 and remaining there until the end. He was also employed with the United States Postal Service for over 10 years and, most recently, worked as a milk hauler for Lensing Dairy in Calmar.

The farm was a playground for Gary to teach his kids life lessons in hard work and solving problems. Throughout his life, Gary enjoyed volunteering his time with various organizations, including the SWACG Pyro Team, which works to put on the annual Fourth of July fireworks display in Spillville. He dedicated countless hours to the CFS Catholic schools bringing their musicals to life through their sets, sound and lights as well as serving on their school board. He also proudly served as a youth and junior high wrestling coach for the South Winneshiek wrestling program, a sport he was always passionate about and enjoyed watching his sons and nephews participate in for many years. 

He is survived by his wife, Kristi, of Calmar; five children: Easton (Kristina), of Polk City; Sawyer (Karli), of Waukee; Kendal (Cam), of La Crosse, Wisconsin; Landers (Joclyn), of Madrid, and Manning, of San Antonio, Texas; three grandsons: Knox, Banks and Otto; his parents: Leonard and Betty, of Spillville; three siblings: Chad (Cathy), of Ridgeway; Michelle (Rod) Lensing, of Calmar, and Denise (Tim) Huber, of Hudson; his mother-in-law, Betty Kleitsch, of Fairbank; as well as numerous nieces and nephews that he enjoyed immensely. 

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Orville Kleitsch.

Public visitation was set for 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with Rosary at 3:45 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m. with Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at the church with inurnment to follow at the church cemetery.
