28th annual Winneshiek pheasants forever banquet held Saturday

The 28th Annual Winneshiek Pheasants Forever banquet was this past Saturday, April 3, at Jewels Skate Country just south of Decorah with another great turnout. The evening began with a social hour, raffles, games and preview of the live auction art and silent auction items, after the meal the Ringneck were recognized, followed by live, silent auction and door prize winners. A perfectly done prime rib dinner was provided by our local U-2 BBQ and Catering from Calmar. Numerous raffle and auction items including guns, a 16-foot flat-stern canoe, a 12-foot flat-bottom boat, and the featured item this year is a cash stimulus prize of $1,500 ($1,000 for first, $300 for second and $200 for third). The popular silent auction will include wildlife prints, artwork, handcrafted items, clothing and lots of merchandise. The live auction had wildlife prints, sculptures and one-of-a-kind artwork. Local artists donating to the banquet were Curt Jones, Mary Ann Gloe, Nordly’s Studio, Ericka Rice, Larry Lubbert, Carol Gaustad, Edith Lerstrom, Paula Brown and yours truly, Joyce Meyer. Les Askelson was the emcee for the evening and Todd Duncan, the President and Banquet Chair, welcomed the members and guests.
