Area Kids Show Math Prowess

Math competition at Upper Iowa University drew some area talent.

The competition, known as MATHCOUNTS, dates back to the 1980s, according to information from the sponsoring group.

“The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series is a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers,” the organization notes on its site. “Created in 1983, it is the longest-running MATHCOUNTS program and is open to all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.”
