ArtHaus Art Fair in Decorah this weekend

ArtHaus, downtown Decorah’s home for the visual, performing, and literary arts, will host an Art Fair on Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26 featuring the work of nine regional artists in both ArtHaus (508 W. Water Street) and ArtHaus Studio (516 W. Water Street).   An array of local artwork will be for sale, including, jewelry, sculpture, furniture, pottery, baskets, and much more.  The event is free and open to the public, 10:00am to 6:00pm each day.

Featured artisans include Joyce Meyer Photography, Karen Misseldine Pottery, Karen and Vicki Berland (Bijoux Jewelry), Rick Scheffert (Spirit of Clay Pottery), Jeanine Scheffert, John Kjome (Clearfork Stoneworks), Jordan Kjome (Nocturnal Designs), Lee Zieke & Lindsay Lee,  and Jenni Brant Ceramics.

Potter Karen Haas Misseldine is known around the area for her functional pottery and beautiful stoneware.  Her wheel-thrown and organic-shaped work includes platters, mugs, bowls, butter-keepers, jewelry, and more.

Artists and naturalists Lee Zieke and Lindsay Lee have long been known to the region for their work in landscape and perennial gardening at Willowglen Farm. Lesser known are their talents with willow and other natural materials like birch bark and riven green wood; their baskets and boxes are the perfect combination of beauty and functionality. The duo will be exhibiting willow baskets, boxes inspired by traditional Scandinavian birchwork, and pastel paintings.

This year, Jeanine Scheffert created Beginner's Garden (www.beginnersgarden.com), where she blogs about her second year of gardening and brings you paintings and printmaking inspired by the garden she tends.  At this year's ArtHaus Summer Art Fair, she will be selling these garden-inspired paintings and prints as well as paper jewelry.

Newcomers to this year’s Art Fair include Joyce Meyer Photography and ceramic works and jewelry by one of Arthaus’ new Co-directors, Jenni Brant. Joyce Meyer is an award-winning fine art photographer based in Spillville, IA. Her nature-inspired works have graced the covers of national magazines, state-wide publications and were recently published as a coffee table book. Jenni Brant, previously of Nebraska City, NE has brought with her to Decorah an array of delicately crafted porcelain functional works as well as semi-precious stone beaded jewelry.

ArtHaus is Decorah's home for the arts bringing visual, performing, and literary art together, offering creative programs for all ages. ArtHaus is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All contributions and donations to ArtHaus are tax deductible.
