Book Boats

Some Turkey Valley students made use of their time to help younger students.

Book boats were constructed by students in the eighth grade, according to information sent by email Thursday.

“I had seen the book boats and thought that our kindergarten students would enjoy them. My 8th grade class had just finished a unit on childcare in FCS (Family & Consumer Science) and while most of the class was on a field trip to Washington, D.C. four students made the book boats. They used their own creative minds and four colors of duct tape to make their nautical scene. Mr. Bakewell’s Industrial Tech class cut the lids for me and working together we were done in a few days. The kindergarten class really enjoyed them!” said Mrs. April Schmitt.
