Protivin- It’s “The Place”for Great Food, Great Times!

The successful family business, The Place in Protivin is the talk of the town. Most nights the place is packed since it opened up last July, many as returning customers. The Place was built and is owned and operated by Sue and Gary Panos. They once owned the original The Place which was located where The Mint is now in Protivin. The bar is managed by their son, Mark.  Located on Main Street, The Place is open seven days a week.

And no wonder The Place is booming, well-known Chef Brian Erickson, who graduated from the prestigious culinary school of Le Cordon Bleu, makes tantalizing food from hand battered onion rings to sizzling steaks and much more. If you are looking for a cold pivo (beer) and a place to watch the game, this is “The Place” also, boasting televisions on about every wall and Bar Manager Mark Panos is always ready to refill your glass and serve you some fantastic hot wings.  If it feels like you are hearing the music theme from the old sitcom “Cheers” playing in your head as you read this-“A place where everyone knows your name and glad you came.” You may be right, only end the song with a Midwest Czech accent with a question at the end, like “ya-no?”
