Ruth Davidson Reagan

Ruth Davidson Reagan, 87, of Calmar and Welaka, Florida, passed away Jan. 24, 2022.

A service will be held in Decorah at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin to Lynn Davidson and Geneva Davidson (nee Landsrud) Nov. 23, 1934 with her twin, Ruby, Ruth was always the kind and giving oldest sibling of four.

As a result of her parent’s work, she and her family moved multiple times between Iowa and California   However, the Decorah area (Nordness) where her mother’s family were farmers, always remained home and a place she would return to often.

Through the generosity of her uncle Ollie Halverson, she and her twin sister were able to attend and graduate from Luther College, a time which remained the most cherished of her youth. Returning to California as a teacher she married Bob Reagan and had three children. She couldn’t have been a more loving and supportive parent. She was active in the PTA and as a Girl Scout leader. Later she helped to run a business with her husband and then worked at Morgan Stanley as a broker. Upon retirement, and until her health began to fail, Ruth chose to return to the Decorah area where she was an active member at Washington Prairie Lutheran Church.

Ruth always loved to sew and read! She made beautiful cross-stitched and needlepointed items, clothing, quilts and crocheted blankets, most often as gifts to loved ones. Always enjoying a good book, she inspired others around her to pick up a book and develop a life-long love of reading.

Ruth struggled with Alzheimer’s over the last 13 years of her life, but even to the end, her first instinct was always to smile and tell you she loved you while holding your hand.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents and her siblings: Ruby Davidson-Witt, Joan Davidson and Lynn Davidson and leaves behind her children: Michael James Reagan (Tracy), Eric David Reagan (Rachel) and Karin Reagan DeWispelaere (Tim) and grandchildren: Anna, Taylor, Patrick, Sage, Cooper, Rowan and Quincy.
