South Winneshiek head baseball coach Alex Smith is entering his seventh year and will be aided by assistant coaches Mike Wenthold and Denne Brodbeck as they look to start the new season.

Some losses from last season include outfielders Joel Hanson and Cole Phillips and pitcher Matthew Holthaus. Hanson was second team Upper Iowa Conference, and Phillips and Holthaus were both honorable mention.

Hanson boasted a .304 average with 22 stolen bases, and Phillips had a .309 average. Holthaus had a 2.25 ERA with 45 strikeouts.
