SW Girls Earn Runner Up at UIC Meet

GUTTENBERG - MFL MarMac edged South Winneshiek girls by just one stroke to win the Upper Iowa Conference Girls’ Meet.
The Bulldog girls shot 387 while South Winneshiek had 388 for runner up. Turkey Valley had 435 for the day for fourth.
South Winneshiek’s Abby Wagner had a 91 for runner up while Maya Lensing’s 93 took third as Julia Carnesi scored a 100 for seventh.
“Wowza!,” said SW Coach Glenna Munuswamy. “Girls shot a season low 388 to take second in the conference to a very good MFL-Mar-Mac (387). We came away with three all-conference team members. 2nd place, Abby Wagner, shooting a 91; 3rd place, Maya Lensing, shooting a 93; and 8th place, Julia Carnesi, shooting a 100. Bailee Frana missed out by just one stroke, shooting a 104.”
Turkey Valley’s Annika Bodensteiner also shot a 100 to tie with Carnesi, and TV’s Morgan Vsetecka had a 103 for 13th. SW’s Bailee Franaa had a 104 for 16th, and teammate Calire Becker had a 107 for 18th, followed by SW’s Aubrey HAgeman with 111 for 19th.
TV’s Brooklyn Kuennen had a 115 for 24th, Karstyn Luke had 117 for 28th and Miyah Byrne had 119 for 29th.
“The girls really came around the back 9 today,” said TV Coach Steve Hoffert. “We had some issues the front 9 but the girls didn’t let that get to them. We are still improving everyday.”
