Ossian Senior Hospice Residents Enjoy A Day At Lakeside Paradise

It was a perfectly balmy afternoon for the Ossian Senior Hospice residents to make their annual visit to Doug and Mary Lou Egeland’s beautiful acreage called “Lakeside Paradise” for a picnic and fishing at 1701 Centennial Road, in rural Ossian Monday, August 3.

Their large pond with a gazebo on the water is beautifully landscaped. Mary Lou explains about the work keeping up the large acreage, “The big pond is easy to take care of once you have everything balanced. The small ponds require a lot of maintenance, but having plant life in them helps a lot. There are too many variables in the small ponds to make them carefree.”

The Ossian Boy Scouts brought fishing poles to help the hospice residents and family members who wanted to fish. Anita Tieskoetter probably caught the most fish, with a total of about 15-17 fish. Inside the gazebo some of the residents converged for lemonade and the opportunity to watch the others fish. It was a great opportunity to see the young and old interacting and learning from each other.
