June ‘Gigi’ Scholz

June “Giggi” Scholz, 96, of Northfield, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, Friday evening,

Aug. 18, 2023, at home, surrounded by family.

June Marian Scholz was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Spillville to Frank and Louise

(Hruska) Poshusta. She graduated from Calmar High School in 1944 and married Kenneth Scholz

Dec. 29, 1945, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville. The couple lived in

Dubuque, before moving to California in 1949, living in South Gate, a suburb of Los

Angeles. June worked for Schleifers Chrysler Plymouth for 10 years as a cashier.

In 1982, June and Ken moved back to the Midwest, settling in Le Sueur, Minnesota, before returning to

Spillville in 1984. In 1994, they moved to Wells. After Ken’s death in 2004, June moved to

Northfield in 2005. She enjoyed embroidery, baking cookies for grandchildren and great

grandchildren and watching Jeopardy, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune and Blue Bloods.

Survivors include her two daughters: Debra (Melvin) Miller, of Northfield, Minnesota, and Carol (Lloyd) Parker of Camarillo, California; five grandchildren: Jennifer Magnuson (Rich), Jessica Schroeder (Special friend Steve Russ); Troy (Alicia), Tracy and Tyrone (Julie); seven great-grandchildren: Calvin, Cole, Taylor, Cooper, Evelyn, Ife and Troy, Jr; her special great-granddog Lulu, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; her parents Frank and Louise, brothers: Willmar, Vernon and Norman; and her sister, Lou Ann Koshatka.

A celebration of June’s life was set for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home, 1316 Division St. South, Northfield with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and reception following the service and burial at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in June’s name to the Animal Ark,

Hastings, Minnesota or the Northfield Hospital Foundation Hospice program.

Arrangements are with the Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Crematory.
