Leonard Francis Kuboushek

Leonard Francis Kuboushek was born March 25, 1935, the son of James and Rose (Kovarik) Kuboushek near Spillville. He received his education at St. Wenceslaus grade school, attended one year at Rudolphinum High School in Protivin, and graduated from Calmar High School in 1954. He was a devoted Catholic and a lifetime member of St. Wenceslaus Parish, Spillville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, receiving his basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He attended boat school at Fort Eustis in Virginia and then was stationed in Inchon, Korea as a clerk typist. When he was discharged he started farming on the Bily Clock farm, rural Ridgeway, married Betty Moellers, of Ossian, June 2, 1959, and they continued to farm together until retirement in 1997. He was also a Sales Representative for Pioneer Seed Company for 20 years. He was a simple man, and liked simple things, like dancing to a waltz with Mom, surprising her with a special Christmas gift, growing crop and raising hogs and watching the crops grow every year, sports, woodworking, playing cards, (especially Progressive Rummy with Mom, he really liked to beat her), Mabe's pizza, kolaches and rohlicky, chicken noodle soup and dressing up. In the end, he was thankful for being able to be at home and for all the care his family provided him. Most of all he loved Mom and watching his family grow.

He was very proud of his family and leaves behind his loving and supportive wife of 66 years, Betty, his children and their families: Chad and Cathy Kuboushek, Michelle and Rod Lensing, Denise and Tim Huber, daughter-in-law, Kristi Kuboushek.
