Randall ‘Randy” John Bohr

Randall “Randy” John Bohr, 62, of Ossian, passed away Aug. 16, 2023 at his home after multiple battles with cancer. Randy was born July 23, 1961 to Carl and Marilyn (Linderbaum) Bohr in Decorah. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in Calmar with the class of 1979.

Randy was united in marriage February 12, 1983 with Lori Mikota at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian. Three children were born to this union. Randy worked as a Dairy Herd Improvement Supervisor before establishing his own business, Bohr Builders. He worked with his sons, brothers and in-laws providing residential construction services in Ossian and the surrounding communities. His strong work ethic was obvious to anyone in his presence. Randy had an impressive ability to rally everyone around a project and was excited to see ideas come to life. His ‘go-getter’ attitude and expectation of excellence has been passed on to his children. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church serving on both the school board and the parish council. Randy belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the South Winn Booster Club and Silver Springs Country Club. He liked golfing and playing cards, as well as enjoying a beverage after a long day of work.  His greatest joy was spending time with grandkids, family and friends.

Surviving Randy are his wife, Lori of Ossian; his three children: Stephanie (Michael) Carper of Auburn, Indiana; Nathan Bohr, of Ossian, and Justin (Abbie) Bohr, of Ossian; four grandchildren: Henry and Emma Carper and Boden and Brock Bohr; his mother, Marilyn Bohr, of Ossian; five siblings: Scott (Karen) Bohr, of Marion; Mike (Julie) Bohr, of Castalia; Bruce (Chris) Bohr, of Ossian; Michele (Clay) Breitsprecher, of Castalia, and Karla (Kyle) Numedahl, of Ossian; his father-in-law, Edward Mikota, of Ossian, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Preceding Randy in death were his father, Carl Bohr in 1984; grandparents: John and Anna Bohr and Edward and Marie Linderbaum and his mother-in-law, Martha Mikota. 

Visitation was set for 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian and one hour before Mass at the church Friday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the church with burial in the parish cemetery.

Memorials may be directed towards St. Francis de Sales Church and School or Ossian Fire Department.

Schmitz-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Ossian is assisting the family with services.
