Monica L. Steinlage, 83, went on her heavenly walk with the Angels April 21, 2021. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 24, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina.

A celebration of Monica’s life will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Festina Community Center following the memorial Mass.

Wenceslaus Anthony Dostal, 95, of Decorah, died Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Barthell O.E.S Home in Decorah.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 24, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Little Turkey with burial in the St. Mary Cemetery with Military Rites.

Edith Humpal

Edith Mildred (Crow) Humpal, 78, of rural Calmar, died April 3, 2021. Edith was able to pass peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren at Howard Country Regional Hospital.

A family rosary was set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 8 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin, followed by visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. with visitation resuming at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 9 at the church with a funeral Mass directly after at 10:30 a.m. and burial in the Holy Trinity Church Cemetery.

Eric Rodas, 44, of Ridgeway, died Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial was set for 11 a.m. Friday, April 9, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Ossian with burial in the church cemetery and visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church Thursday, April 8, and also one hour before the service Friday morning.

Aaron Hackman, 56, of Nixa, Missouri, formerly of Festina, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home of natural causes.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of the service and burial in the church cemetery with military rites

Florence Gehling

Florence Gehling, 86, of Decorah, died March 13, 2021 at Ossian Senior Hospice after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Florence Madelyn (Short) was born Aug. 22, 1934 to Carl and Florence (Clabby) Short, the youngest of three children. Florence attended grade school at Jesup Consolidated school. In 1947, her family moved to Waterloo. She attended High School at Our Lady of Victory Academy and graduated in 1952. Florence was employed at Black Hawk County Mental Health Center until she married Edward Gehling Nov. 27, 1954. Together, they had seven children.

Mass of Christian Burial was set for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar with burial in the parish cemetery and visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. March 12 at the church.

Karen Kruse, 66, originally of St. Lucas, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

A memorial Mass was set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 307 East Main St., St. Lucas, with burial in the church cemetery and visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
