Jenny Maria (Kleve) Rankin

Jenny Maria (Kleve) Rankin, 42, of Postville and formerly of Calmar, died Oct. 2, 2021, at Gundersen Health Systems, La Crosse, Wisconsin. Jenny was born Oct. 19, 1978, in Decorah, to Melvin and Shirley (Holthaus) Kleve. Jenny graduated from South Winneshiek High School and attended Kirkwood Community College and NICC in Calmar.

Jenny was united in marriage to Ray Rankin, Jr. Oct. 7, 2000, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Calmar. Four children were born to this union. Jenny worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Fort Atkinson with burial in the parish cemetery and visitation from 9 a.m. until the Mass in the church.

Dale Harold Milbrandt, 83, of Waucoma, passed away peacefully Sept. 21.

A funeral service was set for Saturday, Oct. 2, at 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Waucoma Event Center.

Ermin J. Schwade, of Gahanna, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sept. 16, 2021. He was a veteran of World War II, Army 8th Air Force – “The Mighty Eighth,” an Honor Flight Member and a founding member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Gahanna, Ohio. He was born in Fort Atkinson March 28, 1923. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Ludmilla Schwade; his wife of 63 years, Mary (Thomas); two brothers: Lynn Schwade and Gene Schwade; two sisters: Lauretta (Barta) and Mildred (Riehle) and two grandsons: Kevin Knaul and Scott Knaul.

Philip Kruse, 90, of Waucoma, died Sept. 18 at Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at St. Luke Catholic Church in St. Lucas. Interment with military honors will take place in the church cemetery.

Visitation was set for 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and continuing an hour prior to the Mass at the church Wednesday.

Mass of Christian Burial was set for 10:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville with burial in the church cemetery and visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the church and again from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.

James Francis Balk, 84, of Waucoma, passed peacefully from this world surrounded by his family Sept. 4. James was a generous man who always had a friendly smile, helping hands and an interesting story or joke to tell.

Herman Carl and Madonna Mary (Finnegan) Balk welcomed James into the world May 12, 1937. He was the oldest boy of nine children: Donna Ann, Barbara, James, Marie, Vern, Charlie, Mark, Delores and Judy. Together, they shared the values of faith, family and farming.
